Hózhó Academy is a State of New Mexico charter school which is authorized for K-12th grade with an enrollment cap of 728 students. We currently only have K-9th grade but we will be adding one grade level per year until we are K-12. In order to stay within our current enrollment limits, we may only enroll or register students when seats are available.
How do I enroll a student at Hozho Academy?
Kindergarten for the upcoming year (2023-2024)
If you have an incoming kindergarten student, open enrollment is in February each year. You may fill out our Application of Intent Form which is an online form requiring the child’s name, date of birth, parent’s contact information and an indication if the child has a sibling already enrolled at Hózhó or is the child of a staff member. The link to complete this form will be active on our school’s homepage for the month of February, with the end of February being our deadline for submission. On March 6th, our lottery will run at 8:00 AM MT to determine the seating placements for kindergarten. The lottery is run electronically and is public so, you may attend if you wish to see the results live. All applications submitted before the deadline will get a seat if the seat limit has not been fulfilled. If the applications submitted exceeds the seat limit, then the lottery determines which seats are Awarded. Parents will be sent an email to accept their seat and start filling out the registration form for the upcoming year. For those not awarded seats, the lottery will also determine placement on the waitlist. If all the seats are not filled after the lottery is conducted, any new registrations that are fully submitted will fill those seats on a first come first serve basis.
All Other Grades 1 and up for the upcoming new school year (2023-2024)
Enrollment depends on open seats. In many cases, we do not know if there will be open seats until after the school year starts and we contact families of students who have not returned. However, open enrollment is during the month of June. Families may complete our Application of Intent form online. This link will be available during the enrollment period (ends on the last day of June). During the first week of July, a date for a lottery will be set for any open seats in Grades 1 and up. If all seats are filled, the lottery will randomly place incoming applicants into a waitlist which will offer a seat once it becomes available with a 48 hour window to accept.
