Hozho Academy is a state-chartered, K-9 Classical school in Gallup, NM serving a diverse population of students. Approximately 75% of the students are in a minority category. Nearly 50% of the students are Navajo, Zuni or from other Native American tribes. Our current enrollment is projected to be nearly 600 students for the 2022-23 school year and we anticipate an enrollment of over 1,000 students when at capacity. Hózhó Academy seeks a full time, administrative level Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Lower School (K-6). This individual will serve as an instructional leader for K-6 teachers by providing instructional support for class management, lesson preparation, instructional content and strategies which align with the school’s Classical pedagogical methods.
Duties include:
- Provide day to day supervision and instructional/modeling to k-6 teachers and instructional staff in alignment with the mission and pedagogical model of the school.
- Supervise some benchmark testing and analyze k-6 formative and summative assessment data
- Supervise grading procedures and documentation of student performance
- Lead Professional Learning Community meetings, create the agendas and share the minutes
- Provide support to the Multi Layered Student Support (SAT) process
- Assist teachers in the development of yearly professional development goals
- Conduct weekly observations of teachers and provide timely feedback regarding class management, lesson plans, instructional delivery, etc…
- Conduct formal teacher evaluations in accordance with the New Mexico Department of Education requirements
- Be an integral member of the leadership team
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education preferred but not required.
- Must have extensive knowledge of best practices in Singapore Math and Access Literacy/Rigg’s Phonics
- Must have proven track record of teacher growth and improvement through effective coaching techniques
- Must be committed to the mission of a Classical model of instruction
- Must be highly collaborative, enthusiastic, and professional.
Compensation: $80,000+ depending on qualifications and experience plus health and retirement benefits.
